Brian Coon - saxophones / flute
Saxophonist Brian Coon has been actively playing around town and regionally since the late 1980's. He "retired" from band directing duties at Teays Valley Local Schools in 2000, and is now a full time Mr. Mom to daughter Sarah.
In addition to Brian's role in the Lenox Avenue Express, he also is a member of the Mazel Tov Orchestra. He works with all of the big band players in and around Columbus. Brian has also appeared with the Columbus Symphony, the Lancaster Festival Orchestra, and touring acts such as the Temptations, Don Rickles, Joan Rivers, Maureen McGovern, the Manhattan Transfer, and Sandi Patti, to name a few.
As is the case with all local players, Brian has also had the pleasure of performing with many "musicians' musicians" who are out on the guest artist circuit and drop in at clubs. These are perhaps the most inspiring opportunities to all of us who love music and continue to hone our craft.
