Frequently Asked Questions

Q:What does the event cost?
A:The cost for your event depends on many factors. We book a lot of performances and the clients uses different specifics for each event. For example, we can perform as a duo, afour piece band up to an eight piece band. We perform from one to five hours. The band has played as far away as Lexington KY.

All of these factors go into making a price decision and for this reason it is hard to give a set price for an event. Give me a timeline, band size you want, and the location and I can give you a reasonable price. Or, give me your budget and all the specifics, and I will tell you what is possible for your party.

Q:How can I make music selections?
A:Making a selection of music is easy. Check the repertoire page and make your selections there. The easier way is to let me know the music you want to hear and let me work our magic with your guests. As professionals we can read the audience and make the right musical selections at the right time to keep the party going.

Q:How can I hear the band perform?
A:The Lenox Avenue Express Band performs at many venues around the region. While you are on the website, go the SCHEDULE page. Pick an event from the schedule and come to the event. Or, for your convenience go to the MEDIA page and choose videos or music. There you can hearview some of my performances.

Q:When in the process should I think of booking music?
A:Make your selection early in the process. As soon as you know the date and location. Many of the better bands book up to a year ahead. By booking the music that far in advance, you make sure that you get the band you want, and you can sometimes make requests for music that may not already be on the bands song-list allowing them time to add the new music, and time to rehearse your special song to make if perfect for your wedding. This is especially important for your First Dance.

Q:What factors should you consider between choosing a live band versus a disk jockey (D.J.)?
A:When you make the choice for the music for your celebration consider all of you guests. Will you only have young adults attending? Will there also have Aunts, Uncles, Grandpa and Grandma and Parents to consider.

With this in mind, my song-list incudes music from the 1930s thru the 2000s so that everyone there will enjoy something. My band can meet the expecations of you and your guests. In addition, live music adds a Touch Of Class to your event.

Q:Why should you choose a live band over a disk jockey (D.J.)?
A:Many people think that a live band cost more than a DJ and many times that is true. But when you consider one person at a set price versus 4-8 people for a set price, you get more bang for your buck with a live band. Also consider that the key is what will set the right mood for you and your guests and set your reception apart. Choosing the right band for your wedding reception is almost as important as choosing your wedding gown.

When it’s all said and done, your guest won’t remember the food, the flowers, or the look of the room. But they will remember the party.

Q:What ranks first in your list in order of importance? Most of our clients have selected the follow

  1. Quality of the musiclal performance.
  2. How much our guests enjoyed themselves.
  3. The cost of the presentation.
  4. Would we do it again? YES
